2024 signals a season of rejuvenation, and I'm thrilled! Back in full swing, and gearing up for exciting projects and delicious recipes. Mastering pizza is one of those —a deceptively tricky feat for a perfectionist pizza lover like myself. I will need to fit this into my healthy eating regime too. My ultimate goal is to reach and maintain a happy weight, blending both indulgence and nutrition in my recipe repertoire. Thank you for being here. Stone fruit is at its peak and I’m already feeling sad that nectarines and peaches will be leaving us soon. You will know from this time last year that I declared they are the best part of summer. I stand by this. Other than perhaps swimming in an icy ocean on a very hot day.

Wine Time
The first wine event was a delicious lunch at Foxcroft this week to taste the 2021 Thamnus Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. A Hemel-en-Aarde wine label I was unfamiliar with.
“One of those wines that stops you in your tracks” Tim Atkin MW
Thamnus can be found tucked away in the Klein Rivier Mountains, and this remote Overberg terroir, 20km from Walker Bay, produces expressive and famous Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
With a history dating to the 17th century, the land now practices regenerative farming, combining vineyards with sheep, cover crops, and olive groves.
Winemaker PJ Geyer, who assists with harvests at Chateau Mazeyres, Fonroque and Moulin du Cadet in Burgundy, crafts wines embodying finesse, elegance, and balance.
Michael Fridjhon praises the 2021 Chardonnay, and Tim Atkin rates it 95/100, describing it as a standout. PJ's Pinot Noir, a late-developing gem, promises a savoury experience for future enjoyment.
I loved both wines, particularly the Chardonnay, which perfectly paired with the pan-roasted yellow tail and tom yum sauce.
I hadn’t been to Foxcroft in a while and I thought the food was exceptional. Here are a few pics:
