We’re in the final stretch to Christmas and the year’s end. 2024 felt like it flew by in a blink. I’m off to France today for a much-needed holiday, and I can’t wait to take you along for the adventure. If I can keep up with content creation, I’ll be sharing daily Instagram stories from all the places I visit, with plans to turn them into vlogs too. This will be my third trip to Paris, and I’ll be attending some truly unforgettable events—like a black-tie gala at The Quai d'Orsay hosted by President Macron. With so many Michelin-starred chefs attending, I hope to meet as many as possible. One thing’s certain: this trip is going to be incredibly delicious.
Recent Recipes
I recently published the Banoffee pie recipe from my second cookbook on the blog. This one’s a twist on a classic, created as a dessert-in-a-jar, so it’s perfect for scooping rather than slicing. A dash of miso in the caramel and coffee in the cream balances the sweetness beautifully—sublime.
I updated my vanilla snap biscuit recipe, an old favourite from 2010. It needed some fresh photos and a recipe reel to match these buttery, snappy, and delicious cookies.
Comfort Baking
If like me, you find baking therapeutic then these are a few of my favourite recipes. I feel like eating all of these right now.
The best Victorian sponge with strawberry jam
This is one of my all-time favourite cakes. I’m a sucker for a Victorian sponge.
Spiced date cake with cream cheese & honey frosting
This delicious cake that can be made into 2 or 3 tiers.
Everyone needs a best carrot cake recipe and after much research and testing, this is my favourite.
Browning the butter for the biscuit base gives this lemon meringue pie a delicious nutty flavour. I love the torched Italian meringue that can be piled high on top and is pillowy soft.
Cheesecake brownies with Romany Creams
I swirled cheesecake through my favourite brownie batter and added chopped-up Romany Creams to make these delicious bars.
White chocolate, cranberry and macadamia nut cookies
These are so delicious and perfect for the festive season. You can use dried strawberries or cherries if you can get your hands on them.
If you want to check out a few more of my best recipes from previous years, which are still my favourite and delicious, you can find them here: 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017,  2016, 2015 and 2014.
Coming up
I’ll share a big Christmas post when I’m back from France, but if you’re already planning festive recipes, check out my favourite Christmas dishes for inspiration. Many of them are perfect for a Southern Hemisphere Christmas.

I recently enjoyed a delicious lunch at Chorus at Waterkloof Estate in Somerset West, you can see my reel and post here:
