Easter is here and I’m preparing for a lovely long weekend away, feasting on delicious things. I am a total chocoholic, so this time of year is difficult to walk through shopping aisles and resist all the chocolate eggs. I had hoped to bring more new Easter recipes to my site this year, but the holiday arrived too quickly and I have run out of time. Luckily I have so many incredible Easter recipes that are worth making again and again. Let’s kick off with the best first and I mean the sweet things of course.
Hot cross buns
Easter is simply not Easter unless you are making your own hot cross buns. I adore my all-time favourite stout hot cross buns and you can turn this into a loaf for easy slicing and toasting. I just posted a new recipe for dark chocolate and orange hot cross buns, so I have your hot cross bun making covered.
The perfect hot cross buns made with stout
The chocolate and orange version ( I whipped butter with salted caramel because more is more and it’s so delicious).
If you feel like baking something ultra-decadent that everyone will love, try my hot cross cinnamon sticky bun recipe. It’s a cinnamon x hot cross bun hybrid with a layer of caramel in the mix. A cream cheese glaze finishes things off.
Hot cross bun French toast waffles
Turn your leftover hot cross buns into French toast waffles in a few easy steps. Drench in syrup for a decadent breakfast treat. I share a video in this recipe post.
Hot cross bun pudding with chocolate and orange
Hot cross buns are smothered in homemade creme Anglaise (custard) with oozy chocolate in the middle for a decadent Easter dessert.
All things Chocolate
A very decadent chocolate cake
This dense and very chocolatey cake has an intense chocolate flavour and teeters on the edge of brownie territory. I absolutely love it.
I recently updated an older post for the famous River Cafe Chocolate Nemesis cake and was reminded of just how perfect this recipe is. It is more of a baked mousse than an actual cake, but this is one of the most delicious and decadent desserts that is always a hit at any dinner party. I included the video tutorial from the River Cafe to iron out any of the trickier steps.
The best chocolate Nutella brownies
Who needs any excuse to make the best chocolate cake by Ina Garten with the fluffiest chocolate buttercream?
Brown butter Rice Krispies treats with chocolate
These nostalgic childhood favourites are given a grown-up twist with brown butter and sea salt. The chocolate melts into the craggy bits making these ultra delicious for Easter (or anytime).
Chocolate marshmallow sweetie pies
These are beyond delightful and delicious to make. The recipe is from Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen & filled with loads of step-by-step pics to help guide you through the process.
Chocolate fondant with Lindt Lindor
A few friends have told me this is the best chocolate fondant they have ever eaten so I’ll just leave it there. It’s the perfect dinner party dessert you can make in advance and just pop in the oven just before you serve it.

Here is a roundup of a few of my BEST recipes for Easter feasting which covers a few easy starters such as chicken live pate, crostini with whipped goats cheese and tomatoes, slow roasted shoulder of lamb, lamb shank pie with red wine & rosemary, roast chicken with stout, and more.
New restaurant alert
I recently enjoyed a delicious dinner at Luke Dale Robert’s new Salon Pot Luck in Woodstock. You can read all about my experience at this chic and trendy spot at The Old Biscuit Mill (located below The Pot Luck Club) here.
